Liquid Germall Plus is a broad-spectrum, water-soluble preservative commonly used in cosmetic and personal care products. It is a patented combination of Diazolidinyl Urea, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, and Propylene Glycol. This preservative is effective over a broad pH range from 3-8 and is soluble in cationic, anionic, and nonionic water-soluble formulations, as well as in the emulsified portion of water-in-oil or oil-in-water emulsions. It is recommended to be used at a level of 0.1%-0.5% of the total formulation weight and should be added during the cool-down stage of the manufacturing process. Liquid Germall Plus is compatible with a wide variety of cosmetic ingredients and is ideal for use in products such as shampoos, body gels, conditioners, creams, and lotions. It is known for its effectiveness at low concentrations, making it a cost-effective preservative option. The preservative is heat sensitive and should not be added above 122°F (50°C) to avoid compromising its efficacy. The maximum usage rate of Liquid Germall Plus is 0.5%, which results in 0.002% Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, a concentration below the maximum allowed for leave-on and rinse-off products in the USA, EU, and Japan. Liquid Germall Plus is not recommended for use in aerosol products. It is important to note that every cosmetic formulation should have a preservative system custom made to match its specific needs
