Minoxidil topical solution USP 5% is a medication used to help hair growth in the treatment of male pattern baldness. It is not used for baldness at the front of the scalp or receding hairline in men. The foam and 2% minoxidil solution are also used to help hair growth in women with thinning hair. Minoxidil belongs to a class of drugs known as vasodilators, and it is not known how minoxidil causes hair growth.

The active ingredient in GoodSense Minoxidil Topical Solution USP, 5%, Hair Regrowth Treatment for Men, Extra Strength, 12 Fluid Ounces and GoodSense Minoxidil Topical Solution USP, 5% Hair Regrowth Treatment for Men, 6 Fluid Ounce, for Male Pattern Baldness is Minoxidil 5% w/v. The inactive ingredients are alcohol, propylene glycol, and purified water.

Minoxidil topical solution 5% contains alcohol, which can cause burning or irritation of the eyes. If scalp irritation continues, stop use and see a doctor. This medicine may be harmful if swallowed, and appropriate studies have not been performed on the relationship of age to the effects of topical minoxidil in children. Safety and efficacy have not been established.

If your scalp becomes abraded, irritated, or sunburned, check with your doctor before applying minoxidil. Minoxidil topical foam or solution is for use on the scalp only, and it should be kept away from the eyes, nose, and mouth. If you should accidentally get some in your eyes, nose, or mouth, flush the area with water.
