Mometasone furoate cream is a medium-strength corticosteroid used to treat skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, allergies, and rash. It decreases swelling (inflammation), itching, and redness. The cream is available in several forms, including cream, ointment, and lotion (solution), and the type of product is chosen by the doctor based on the skin condition/area of the body being treated.
Each gram of mometasone furoate cream USP 0.1% contains 1 mg mometasone furoate, USP in a cream base of aluminum starch octenyl succinate, hexylene glycol, phospholipon 90 H, phosphoric acid, purified water, titanium dioxide, white petrolatum, and white wax. Mometasone furoate is a synthetic corticosteroid with anti-inflammatory activity. It is a white to off-white powder that is practically insoluble in water, slightly soluble in octanol, and moderately soluble in ethyl alcohol.
