Mount Everest is located on the border between two countries: Nepal and the Tibet Autonomous Region of China. Its summit sits precisely on the international border between these two regions. The southern face and the most popular access route to the summit are in Nepal, specifically in the Sagarmatha National Park in the Solukhumbu District. The northern face rises above Tibet (China), in Tingri County of the Tibetan Plateau. Therefore, Mount Everest can be said to be in both Nepal and China, but the most well-known climbing route and cultural association is with Nepal.
