The tissue responsible for movement in our body is the muscular tissue.
Muscular Tissue and Movement
- Muscular tissue consists of elongated cells called muscle fibers that contain special contractile proteins, actin and myosin, which contract and relax to produce movement in the body.
- There are three types of muscle tissue: skeletal muscle (responsible for voluntary movements by attaching to bones), cardiac muscle (found in the heart and responsible for pumping blood), and smooth muscle (found in internal organs and responsible for involuntary movements).
- Skeletal muscles work with the skeletal system to enable body movements, posture, and facial expression, while cardiac and smooth muscles perform internal movements essential for life functions.
Thus, muscular tissue is primarily accountable for body movement by contracting and relaxing muscle fibers. This includes voluntary movement of limbs and involuntary movements within organs.
