Pashmina wool is obtained from the undercoat of a special breed of goat called the Changthangi goat or Pashmina goat. These goats are native to the high- altitude Himalayan regions of India, Nepal, and Pakistan. The wool is collected during the spring molting season by hand-combing the soft undercoat, which is fine, soft, and warm, making it highly prized for luxurious shawls and textiles. The scientific name of the goat is Capra hircus. The production process is humane and sustainable, with the goats naturally shedding their winter coat.
