Plan B (the morning-after pill) commonly causes mild side effects that typically resolve within a few days. These include nausea, abdominal pain or cramping, fatigue, headache, breast tenderness, and changes to the menstrual cycle such as irregular or early/late periods. Serious side effects are rare but could involve allergic reactions or ectopic pregnancy. If heavy or prolonged bleeding, severe abdominal pain, or symptoms of an allergic reaction occur, medical advice should be sought. The menstrual cycle usually returns to normal within one or two cycles after taking Plan B.
