Rebecca Kadaga is a Ugandan politician and lawyer who has held several high- profile roles, notably serving as Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda from May 2011 to May 2021, and as the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Community Affairs in the Ugandan Cabinet. She has represented Kamuli District as the Woman Member of Parliament since 1989, making her one of the longest-serving members in the country’s recent political history. Kadaga is recognized as a trailblazer for women in Ugandan politics, being the first woman elected Speaker in the Parliament of Uganda’s history.
