The Savannah cat is a hybrid breed created by crossing a domestic cat with an African serval. It is known for its tall, slender build, long legs, large ears, and spotted coat that resembles its wild serval ancestor. Savannah cats are large, weighing between 12 to 25 pounds, with some early generations (F1, F2) being exceptionally big. They have playful, loyal, and dog-like personalities, showing high intelligence and the ability to learn quickly. Savannah cats often enjoy water, can be trained to walk on a leash and fetch, and have high energy levels. They are friendly but may have strong hunting instincts, so interactions with small pets like birds or hamsters require care. Their lifespan ranges from 12 to 20 years. The breed was first developed in the 1980s and officially recognized by The International Cat Association (TICA) in 2012.
