Here is a classic and flavorful slow cooker beef brisket recipe: Ingredients:

  • 4 lb beef brisket
  • 3 Tbsp olive oil (divided)
  • 2 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 lb yellow onions, sliced thick
  • 1 lb mushrooms, sliced thick
  • 6 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 2 cups low sodium chicken broth or beef broth
  • 2 1/2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Instructions:

  1. Season brisket with salt and pepper. Heat 1 Tbsp olive oil in a skillet, sear brisket on all sides until browned. Transfer to slow cooker, fat side up.
  2. Sauté onions in 1 Tbsp olive oil until caramelized, place over brisket in slow cooker.
  3. Sauté mushrooms until softened, add to slow cooker along with garlic.
  4. Mix broth and Worcestershire sauce, pour over meat.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 7-8 hours until brisket is cooked through and tender enough to pull apart with forks.
  6. Remove excess fat from top, shred meat in slow cooker to soak up juices. Serve with mushrooms and brisket juices spooned on top.

This method results in a juicy, tender brisket with a rich broth infused with onions and mushrooms. Leftovers keep well and reheat nicely.

If a BBQ style brisket is preferred, there are variations involving a spice rub, BBQ sauce, and finishing with a broiler to caramelize the crust.
