The river Narmada has its source at Amarkantak, which is located on the Amarkantak Plateau in the Anuppur District of Madhya Pradesh, India. The exact starting point is a small reservoir known as the Narmada Kund at Amarkantak. This region is situated in the Maikala range, near the meeting point of the Vindhya and Satpura ranges. The river then flows westwards across Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Gujarat before draining into the Arabian Sea through the Gulf of Khambhat.
