Tretinoin Cream, also known as Retin-A, is a medication used to treat acne and sun-damaged skin. It is available in different strengths and formulations, including Tretinoin Cream, USP (Emollient) 0.05% and Tretinoin Cream, USP 0.1%, 0.05%, or 0.025%. The cream contains the active ingredient tretinoin, which is a synthetic version of vitamin A. Tretinoin works by irritating the skin, speeding up the life cycle of skin cells, and promoting the growth of newer, healthier cells.
Tretinoin Cream, USP (Emollient) 0.05% is indicated as an adjunctive agent for use in the mitigation of fine wrinkles, mottled hyperpigmentation, and tactile roughness of facial skin in patients who use comprehensive skin care and sunlight avoidance programs. It is not recommended for use in patients with eczematous conditions, such as atopic dermatitis and seborrheic dermatitis. The safety and efficacy of long-term use of this product in the treatment of other disorders have not been established.
