Two-step verification is an optional WhatsApp feature that provides more security to your account
. After successfully registering your phone number on WhatsApp, you will see the two-step verification screen
. To set up two-step verification:
- Open WhatsApp Settings
- Tap Account > Two-step verification > Enable
- Create a six-digit PIN and confirm it
- Provide an email address or tap Skip
. Adding an email address allows you to reset your PIN if you forget it and helps safeguard your account
- Tap Next
- Confirm the email address and tap Save or Done
To manage two-step verification settings:
- Turn off two-step verification
:
1. Open WhatsApp **Settings**
2. Tap **Account** > **Two-step verification** > **Turn off**
- Change your two-step verification PIN
:
1. Go to WhatsApp **Settings**
2. Tap **Account** > **Two-step verification** > **Change PIN**
- Add an email address
:
1. Open WhatsApp **Settings**
2. Tap **Account** > **Two-step verification** > **Add Email Address**
- Change an email address
:
1. Open WhatsApp **Settings**
2. Tap **Account** > **Two-step verification** > **Change Email Address**
If you forget your PIN, you will need to wait seven days before you can reset it
. If you have previously added your email address, WhatsApp will send reset instructions to your email
