Utah is not in another state; it is itself a state in the United States. It is located in the western part of the country, in the Mountain West subregion. Utah borders Idaho and Wyoming to the north, Colorado to the east, Arizona to the south, Nevada to the west, and touches New Mexico at a single point in the southeast known as the Four Corners. The capital and largest city is Salt Lake City. Utah became the 45th U.S. state on January 4, 1896.
