Wanindu Hasaranga is a professional Sri Lankan cricketer known for his leg- spin bowling and all-round capabilities. Born on July 29, 1997, in Galle, Sri Lanka, he began his cricket career at Richmond College, initially as a seam bowler before switching to leg-spin under the guidance of his coach. He made his international debut in 2017 and quickly became a notable player, achieving feats like the first-ever hat-trick for Sri Lanka in a T20 World Cup and the first Sri Lankan to take a hat-trick on ODI debut. Hasaranga has been a key player in limited-overs cricket for Sri Lanka and captained the T20I team during the 2024 T20 World Cup. He has also been prominent in franchise leagues, including the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he joined Rajasthan Royals in 2025 after playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru from 2021 to 2023.
