Badge notifications are small, numbered icons that appear on app icons. They are designed to give a quick glance at how many unread messages, missed calls, or other notifications you have for a particular app. Badge notifications are the little red circles or numbers that appear over an app icon on your Home Screen. They can appear on the app icons of your home screen, in the App Library, or on both or neither. Badge notifications are frequently linked to push notifications, which are even more overwhelming because they require your immediate attention. Badge notifications can be useful for getting a quick overview of how many notifications you need to look through, but they can also be a source of anxiety if you have hundreds of notifications that you never plan to read. You can enable or disable these notifications for each app by going to Settings > Notifications, then tapping the relevant app and using the Badges toggle.
