what are demons in a discovery of witches

In the TV series "A Discovery of Witches," daemons are depicted as creative, artistic creatures who walk a tightrope between madness and genius. They are not demons, but rather magical creatures with glimmerings of supernatural power. While they cannot enchant objects like witches can, some daemons have reported precognitive visions and telepathic abilities, though these readings and visions, like daemons themselves, are not always reliable. At puberty, daemons traits come to the fore, either as mental and creative brilliance or as madness, and even, in a few regrettable instances, murder. However, there are still many unknowns about daemons, since they have never been a central focus of the three All Souls books.
