Fiction books are literature created from the imagination, and include genres such as romance novels, mystery, science-fiction, historical fiction, fantasy, and more. They are fabricated and based on the authors imagination, and while settings, plot points, and characters in fiction are sometimes based on real-life events or people, writers use such things as jumping off points for their stories. Fictional books may be created to add realism or depth to a larger fictional work, and may provide the basis of the plot of a story, a common thread in a series of books or other works, or the works of a particular writer or canon of work.
In contrast, nonfiction books are based on true facts and events, and include genres such as science, history, biographies, cooking, health and fitness, art, music, and more. They inform readers about different areas concerning important topics and can help them develop critical thinking skills.
