Microfiber towels are made from ultrafine synthetic yarns, namely polyester and nylon. The fibers in microfiber towels are much thinner than those in cotton cleaning cloths, making them more effective at cleaning and more absorbent. The polyester and polyamide fibers are combined in such a way that the fibers are split, creating more fiber surfaces with which to clean and making the cloths very porous. Microfiber towels can be used dry, eliminating the need for a second round of swiping to get rid of moisture and left-behind debris. The type of microfiber used in these cloths is electrostatic and will also absorb grease and oil.
