Screen protectors are an additional sheet of material that can be attached to the screen of an electronic device to protect it against physical damage. Screen protectors are made of either plastics, such as polyethylene terephthalate (PET) or thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), or of laminated tempered glass, similar to the device’s original screen they are meant to protect. Plastic screen protectors cost less than glass and are thinner (around 0.1 mm (0.004 in) thick, compared to 0.3 to 0.5 mm (0.012 to 0.020 in) for glass) and more flexible. PET screen protectors provide the least amount of scratch- and impact-protection, but theyre super cheap, light, and thin, and as a result are less visible once applied to your phone. TPU is a flexible plastic thats a huge hassle to install, doesnt feel very smooth, and adds an "orange peel" type glare to your phones screen. Tempered glass screen protectors are tougher in terms of scratch- and drop-protection, and these days they are pretty inexpensive. Liquid screen protectors are made from Silicone Dioxide (SiO2) and are applied as a wipe format.
