The Five Pillars of Islam are fundamental practices in Islam, considered to be obligatory acts of worship for all Muslims. They are summarized in the hadith of Gabriel. The Five Pillars are as follows:
- Shahada (Testimony of Faith): The declaration that "There is no god but God, and Muhammad is the Messenger of God."
- Salah (Prayer): The performance of ritual prayers five times a day.
- Zakat (Almsgiving): The giving of a portion of ones wealth to those in need.
- Sawm (Fasting): The observance of fasting during the month of Ramadan.
- Hajj (Pilgrimage): The pilgrimage to Mecca for those who are physically and financially able to undertake it.
These practices are considered obligatory for individuals who genuinely wish to pursue a life like that which Prophet Muhammad led. They are acknowledged and practiced by Muslims throughout the world, regardless of their disparities in other aspects of their faith.
