There are six positions in volleyball, and each position serves a unique role in the success of the team. The six positions are:

Setter: The setter is responsible for setting the ball to the hitters to create scoring opportunities. They usually start in the first back row position.

Outside Hitter: Also known as the left-side hitter, the outside hitter is responsible for attacking from the left side of the court.

Opposite Hitter: Also known as the right-side hitter, the opposite hitter is responsible for attacking from the right side of the court.

Middle Blocker: The middle blocker is responsible for blocking the opposing teams hits and attacking from the middle of the court.

Libero: The libero is a back-row specialist who is responsible for passing and playing defense. They can substitute in for any back-row player without counting as a substitution.

Defensive Specialist: The defensive specialist is responsible for playing defense and passing, and they can substitute in for any front-row player without counting as a substitution.
Its important to note that the positions are more like zones or rotations on the court than actual positions. The players rotate clockwise after winning a rally, and each player moves to the next position.
