The seven trumpets are a series of apocalyptic events described in the Book of Revelation, which are sounded by seven angels to signal the end times and the coming of Gods judgment. The events that follow each trumpet blast are detailed in Revelation chapters 8 to 11. Here is a summary of the seven trumpets and their corresponding judgments:
-
First trumpet: Hail and fire mixed with blood, causing one-third of the earth's trees and all the grass to be burned up.
-
Second trumpet: A great mountain burning with fire is thrown into the sea, resulting in one-third of the sea becoming blood, one-third of the living creatures in the sea dying, and one-third of the ships being destroyed.
-
Third trumpet: A great star, called Wormwood, falls from heaven and poisons one-third of the earth's freshwater sources, causing many people to die from drinking the bitter water.
-
Fourth trumpet: One-third of the sun, moon, and stars are struck, causing a third of the day and night to be without light.
-
Fifth trumpet: A star falls from heaven and opens the bottomless pit, releasing a swarm of locusts that torment people for five months. These locusts have the power to harm only those who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads.
-
Sixth trumpet: Four angels are released from the Euphrates River, and they lead an army of 200 million horsemen who kill one-third of mankind.
-
Seventh trumpet: This trumpet is also called the third woe. As it sounds, voices in heaven declare, "The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!" This trumpet also includes the seven last plagues.
The purpose of the seven trumpets is to serve as a wake-up call to sinners on Earth, calling them to repentance. Each trumpet blast brings with it a plague of a more disastrous nature than the one before it, building anticipation for the final judgment.
