The dimensions of a PowerPoint slide can be customized, but the default size for new presentations is 10 inches by 7.5 inches, which is also 1024 x 768 pixels. However, the size of a slide can be changed by going to the Design tab of the Ribbon, selecting Page Setup, and then selecting Custom at the bottom of the Slides Sized for list. In the Height and Width boxes, the dimensions can be specified. The minimum and maximum dimensions that PowerPoint accepts are:

  • Width or Height Minimum: 1 in, 2.54 cm, 120 px
  • Maximum: 56 in, 142.24 cm, 720 px

Two standard dimensions are typical for PowerPoint: the old 4:3 (10x7.5" or 1024x768 pixels) and the newer, wider 16:9 (13.33x7.5" or 1920x1080 pixels) . The aspect ratio of a slide refers to the ratio of the width to the height of the slide. In the 4:3 aspect ratio, the dimensions are 1024 x 768 pixels (10.67″ x 8″); the height is 3/4 of the width. In the 16:9 aspect ratio, the dimensions are 1920 x 1080 pixels (13.33″ x 7.5″); the height is 9/16 of the width.
