To join the Army, there are several requirements that must be met. Enlisted soldiers need to have a high school degree or equivalent, while officers need a college degree by the time they are commissioned. Candidates must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident with a valid Green Card. The minimum age to become an enlisted soldier is 17 years old, while to become an Army officer, one must be at least 18 years old and have a college degree obtained either through ROTC, U.S. Military Academy at West Point, or from another college or university program. Candidates must also be medically and physically fit, and in good moral standing. To enlist, candidates must pass the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test and the Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT).
