The skill-related components of fitness are important for improving athletic performance and can be easily incorporated into a variety of physical education programs. There are six skill-related components of fitness, which are:
- Agility: the ability to change direction rapidly and always have your body under control.
- Balance: the ability to keep an upright posture while either standing still or moving.
- Coordination: the ability to use different parts of your body together smoothly and efficiently.
- Power: the ability to exert maximum force in a short amount of time.
- Reaction time: the ability to respond quickly to a stimulus.
- Speed: the ability to move quickly from one point to another.
Skilled athletes typically excel in all six skill-related components of fitness.
