Starting Sunday, September 24, 2023, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) began a pilot program that offers free bus service on one route in each of the five boroughs of New York City. The following bus routes are included in the pilot program:
- Bx18 A/B
- B60
- M116
- Q4 LCL/LTD
- S46/96
It is important to note that the pilot program does not include free transfers to buses or subway lines. Additionally, some buses are already fare-free, such as the Q70-LaGuardia Link to and from LaGuardia Airport.
