The castle at Disneyland is Sleeping Beauty Castle, which is a fairy tale castle at the center of Disneyland and formerly at Hong Kong Disneyland. It is based on the late 19th century Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria, Germany. The castle opened on July 17, 1955, along with Disneyland Park. Guests can walk through the castles iconic gates to the many attractions within the land. The castle reaches a height of 77 feet (23 m), but it was designed to appear taller through the forced perspective technique; design elements are larger at the foundation and smaller at the turrets. The castle is the oldest of all Disney castles.
