A bloody nose, also known as epistaxis, can be caused by various factors. The most common cause is dry air, which can dry out the nasal membranes, making them more susceptible to bleeding and infections. Nose picking or scratching the inside of the nose, as well as rubbing or blowing the nose too hard, can also lead to nosebleeds. Other causes include injury, allergies, abnormal tissue growth inside the nose, and in some cases, a bleeding or clotting problem
. In rare instances, nosebleeds can be caused by more serious conditions such as high blood pressure, atherosclerosis, or recent nasal surgery
