what causes night

Night is caused by the rotation of the Earth on its axis. When a part of the Earth is turned away from the Sun, that location experiences night because it is no longer illuminated by sunlight. The Earth completes one full rotation approximately every 24 hours, resulting in the regular cycle of day and night. During night, the Sun is below the horizon, and the sky is dark while the side facing the Sun experiences daytime and light.
