Aaron Rodgers began his college football career at Butte College in 2002 before transferring to the University of California, Berkeley to play for the California Golden Bears, where he set several career passing records. He played for a year at Butte College, a community college in nearby Oroville, before transferring in 2003 to the University of California, Berkeley. At Butte College, Rodgers was the starting quarterback for a 2002 Roadrunners squad with a 10-1 record, a NorCal Conference championship, and a No. 2 national ranking.
