Ken Jeong attended Duke University, where he earned his bachelors degree in 1990, and later attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine, where he obtained his M.D. in 1995. While at Duke, he briefly considered majoring in drama while still continuing his pre-med coursework. Before attending medical school, he took theater classes at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) during the summer. Jeong began pursuing acting while a sophomore at Duke University. After completing his residency in New Orleans, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career as a comedian.
