As of July 1, 2023, BYU football is a member of the Big 12 Conference. Prior to joining the Big 12, BYU competed as an FBS Independent from 2011 to 2022. BYU has competed in several different athletic conferences during its history, including the Rocky Mountain Conference, the Mountain States Athletic Conference, the Skyline Conference, the Western Athletic Conference, and the West Coast Conference.
