Charlotte is in the American Athletic Conference. UNC Charlotte officially joined the American Athletic Conference on October 21, 2021, and the 2023 entry date was confirmed in June 2022. Charlotte has been a member of Conference USA since 2013 (2015 for football) and will now compete in The American alongside existing league members.
