Latin America is a region that includes Mexico, most of Central and South America, and the Caribbean islands of Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and Haiti. The citizens of Latin American countries, or people with cultural, ancestral, or national origins in Latin America, are called Latin Americans or Latinos. The term "Latino" refers specifically to people living in the United States who are of Latin American nationality, and it also refers to their U.S.-born descendants. The largest Hispanic origin groups in the United States are Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, Cubans, Salvadorans, Dominicans, Guatemalans, Colombians, Hondurans, Ecuadorians, and Peruvians.
