R. Kelly is a disgraced R&B singer who has been accused of and convicted of multiple crimes related to sexual abuse of minors and women. Some of the allegations against him include:
- Using his fame to seek out underage fans for sex
- Producing child sex abuse images
- Transporting underage girls over state lines for illegal sexual purposes
- Coercing minors into sexual activity
- Forcing his victims to perform sexual acts for his gratification
- Setting up strict rules dictating where his victims were allowed to go and who they were allowed to speak to
In 2022, R. Kelly was sentenced to 30 years in prison for sexual exploitation of a child, bribery, sex trafficking, and racketeering. In 2023, he was sentenced to an additional 20 years in prison for child sex crimes. Prosecutors have accused him of having an "indifference to human suffering" and using sex as a weapon.
