Ted Bundy was a notorious American serial killer who kidnapped, raped, and murdered dozens of young women and girls between 1974 and 1978. He typically lured his victims by pretending to need help or by impersonating authority figures, then attacked them by bludgeoning them unconscious, restraining them with handcuffs, and transporting them to remote locations where he sexually assaulted and killed them. Bundy killed at least 30 confirmed victims across several states including Washington, Oregon, Utah, Colorado, and Florida, but the true number may be higher. In some cases, he gruesomely returned to the bodies for further sexual acts and mutilation. Bundy escaped custody twice, committing more assaults during these periods before finally being arrested in 1978. He was sentenced to death and executed in 1989.
