Makati is a city in the Philippines located within the circle of 14′40″ °N and 121′3″ °E right at the center of Metro Manila. It is bounded on the north by the Pasig River, facing Mandaluyong, on the northeast by Pasig, on the east by Pateros, on the southeast by Taguig, on the southwest by Pasay, and on the northwest by the city of Manila. Makati has a total land area of 27.36 square kilometers (10.56 sq mi) and is divided into 33 barangays (the smallest local government units) which handle governance in a much smaller area.

Makati has two congressional districts, the first and second district. The second district consists of barangays in eastern Makati, namely Cembo, Comembo, East Rembo, Guadalupe Nuevo, Guadalupe Viejo, Pembo, Pinagkaisahan, Pitogo, Post Proper Northside, Post Proper Southside, Rizal, South Cembo, and West Rembo.

The National Capital Region Fourth District, which includes Makati, has a population of 3,861,951 people as of 2020.
