Activator rails are a type of rail in Minecraft that have a unique purpose. Here is what activator rails do:
- Activator rails cause any minecart that runs over them to drop off any player or material that is being transported.
- Activator rails remove entities from minecarts, but only if powered with Redstone.
- Activator rails act like a normal rail when they are not powered.
To use an activator rail, there has to be a line of rails, and it wont do anything if theres no minecart rolling over it, which requires other rails. To effectively use an activator rail, players should make a railroad that is several blocks long, and a powered rail or two would also be helpful to ensure speed. Place a redstone torch beside those to activate them. The railroad should be as long as necessary, but any length will cause an activator rail to discharge the minecart. This rail will eject the cart, the chest, and the items, so a hopper and a chest (maybe even a pool of water to direct the items) will also be helpful.
