What a blind person can see depends on how much vision they have. A person with total blindness won’t be able to see anything. However, some 85% of people who are legally blind do have some remaining vision and perceive light. People with low vision may be able to see not only light, but colors and shapes too, but they may have trouble reading street signs, recognizing faces, or matching colors to each other. Some blind people can see colors, but others may see colors as faded or find it difficult to tell colors apart. It is important to note that each person experiences vision loss differently. The concept of seeing black implies visual perception, which is absent in individuals who are blind. Some people without sight may be able to process certain information with cues other than visual ones, like sound or vibration.
