Cows primarily drink water. Adult cows rely on water for hydration, digestion, and metabolizing nutrients. They typically drink between 25 and 50 gallons of water per day, depending on their size and breed. Providing ample water is especially important for keeping cows healthy and comfortable, particularly on hot days. Additionally, cows can obtain some of their liquids from grass and hay, and when given access to clean water sources such as troughs or ponds, they will usually take advantage of them.
Its important to note that while calves drink their mothers milk for the first several months of life, adult cows do not drink milk. Instead, they rely solely on water for their hydration needs.
