Nasal stents are medical devices used to improve nasal breathing. They work by keeping the nostrils open while they heal, so that patients can breathe easily. Nasal stents are often used after surgery to correct nasal problems, such as chronic sinusitis. They can also be used to alleviate snoring and improve athletic performance. Nasal stents decrease inflammation and prevent the formation of scar tissue post-surgery. They are generally used for three to six months, but the duration might be adjusted as needed.
