Stingrays are pure carnivores and feed on a variety of other animals beneath the ocean waves. They mainly eat mollusks and crustaceans, such as clams, oysters, shrimps, crabs, and mussels. They also like to eat animals that live on or beneath the sand like worms, snails, and shrimp. Stingrays are bottom feeders and scan the seafloor for food instead of rising to the top. They use their sense of smell and the electric field sense common to all sharks to locate their prey since their eyes are on the top of their head and they cant see their prey. Once they have located a suitable meal, the stingray will eat it outright or perform a process called tenting. Stingrays crush their meal using strong jaws.
