To open a bank account at Bank of America, you will need to provide your personal information to complete the application, including your current mailing address, social security number, email address, and account number if you have an existing checking account. You will also be required to show two forms of identification, such as a drivers license, state-issued ID with photo, U.S. passport, or military ID with photo. If you are a non-resident alien, you will need to provide a government-issued ID with photo, work ID with address and photo, or a current utility bill with your name and address.
To make your initial deposit, you can transfer money from your account at another bank, use a debit card, check, or money order. You can also link your Bank of America Advantage Savings account to your Bank of America checking account.
If you prefer to apply online, you can do so for a checking account, savings account, CD, or IRA. Simply select an account, enter your personal information, verify your information, and make your initial deposit. As part of your online application, you will be asked to give consent to receive certain account opening documents and notices from Bank of America electronically. Other account opening documents will be sent through U.S. Mail within 7-10 days of account opening.
If you do not wish to apply online, you may visit any Bank of America banking center to apply in person.
