Human poverty is a concept that goes beyond the limited view of poverty as lack of income. It refers to the denial of political, social, and economic opportunities to an individual to maintain a “reasonable” standard of living. Human poverty exists when people live under low standards. It is characterized by the inability to meet basic needs, including food, clean water, shelter, education, healthcare, and social security. Human poverty is not just limited to the economic status of people but rather spreads in various other sectors, which include lack of education, negligence of the healthcare system, discrimination, and disparity. Women, female infants, and elderly people are considered to be the poorest of the poor because, in a poor household, these people suffer the most and are deprived of the maximum necessities in life.
