What Does "Dry Wine" Mean?
Dry wine refers to a wine that has no residual sugar, meaning it isnt sweet. During the fermentation process, the sugars in the grapes are converted into alcohol, and if the fermentation process is stopped before all the sugar is consumed, the wine may retain some sweetness. However, a dry wine has little to no residual sugar content, resulting in a lack of sweetness.
The term "dry" in wine does not refer to a sensation of dryness in the mouth, which is actually caused by tannins in the wine, not the absence of residual sugar. Therefore, the perception of dryness in wine is not directly related to its sweetness.
