Pink eye, or conjunctivitis, can present as one or both eyes looking red and becoming irritated. Other symptoms can include discharge, increased tearing, and crusting. The white part of the eye looks light pink to reddish, and the eyelids may appear puffy or droopy. A clear, watery drainage is common with viral and allergic pink eye, while a more greenish-yellow discharge is associated with bacterial pink eye. It can also cause a gritty sensation in the eye, itching, and swelling of the eyelids. Pink eye is the inflammation or infection of the transparent membrane that lines the eyelid and eyeball, known as the conjunctiva. When the small blood vessels in the conjunctiva become swollen and irritated, they become more visible, causing the whites of the eyes to appear reddish or pink
