Tony Pollard, a Dallas Cowboys running back, wears a Q-Collar around his neck to help protect his brain from injury while playing football. The Q-Collar is a small, lightweight necklace-type device that applies a small bit of pressure to the wearers internal jugular vein. This pressure puts a kink on the hose, so the jugular is slower to drain, which fills capillaries around the brain with just about a tablespoon of extra blood, stabilizing it almost like bubble wrap. Other NFL players who wear the Q-Collar include Chargers LB Drue Tranquill, Cowboys TE Dalton Schultz, Rams S Taylor Rapp, Eagles RB Boston Scott, and Seahawks TE Colby Parkinson.
