Jinbe officially joined the Straw Hat Pirates in Episode 876 during the conclusion of the Whole Cake Island arc. He initially refused Monkey D. Luffys invitation to join the crew in Episode 568 during the Fishman Island Arc, as he wanted to protect the people of Fishman Island. However, he later decided to join the crew and became a member when he and the Sun Pirates aided the Straw Hats in escaping from Totto Land, Big Mom's territory.
