According to the search results, the United Auto Workers (UAW) union has expanded its strike to two Detroit automakers plants, General Motors (GM) Lansing Delta Township assembly and Ford Motor Co. Chicago Assembly, beginning at noon on September 29, 2023. This means that around 7,000 workers will walk off the job. The strike action does not include GM Lansing Regional Stamping plant or Fords Chicago Stamping Plant. The UAW strike began on September 15, 2023, and has since expanded to other plants. On September 22, 2023, UAW President Shawn Fain announced that 38 new sites across the country would strike at noon Friday as an expansion against the unions one-week-old action against the Detroit Three automakers. The strike expands to only General Motors and Stellantis sites, as Fain revealed Ford is making progress in their discussions. The total number of striking autoworkers is 25,000, or 17% of the UAWs roughly 146,000 members.
